Marjorie Oettinger

Marjorie Oettinger, Ph.D.

Professor of Genetics, Harvard Medical School

Margie Oettinger is a Professor of Genetics at HMS and Member of the Molecular Biology Department at MGH, the director of the MGH Postbaccalaureate Association. Margie earned her undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Harvard, attended the Health Science and Technology program at HMS and received her PhD from MIT before joining the faculty at MGH and HMS. Her research focuses on the mechanism and regulation of the development of the B and T cell antigen receptors during lymphoid cell maturation. She has advised high school students, undergraduates, postbaccalaureate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows who have gone on to diverse careers informed by their training in the sciences. In addition to facilitating mentorship workshops for faculty and students, she is a facilitator for the Arts and Dementia Program at HMS and the Resilience Training Program of the NIH Office for Intramural Training and Education. She is a trained CIMER facilitator.
